Hot Chocolate:
- 2 tablespoons Bourbon more or less depending on preference
- 2 tablespoons Cacao or Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 2 cups Almond Milk or Coconut Milk
- ¼ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Whipped Cream:
- 3 Vanilla Beans
- 1 can Coconut Cream
- ¾ cup Powdered Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
Step 1: Prepare the Hot Chocolate
Step 2: Add the Cocoa Powder
Step 4: Prepare the Whipped Cream
While the hot chocolate is simmering, let’s prepare the whipped cream. In a large mixing bowl, add the chilled coconut cream, powdered sugar, scraped vanilla beans, and vanilla extract.
Step 5: Whip it Good!
Using an electric mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, whip the mixture on medium-high speed until it forms stiff peaks. This will take about 3-5 minutes, depending on the speed of your mixer.
Step 6: Assemble the Whipped Chocolate Milk
Finally, it’s time to assemble the whipped chocolate milk! Pour the hot chocolate into mugs, leaving some room for the whipped cream. Dollop a generous portion of the whipped cream on top of the hot chocolate, creating a beautiful contrast of colors.
Step 7: Garnish
For the finishing touch, you can sprinkle some cocoa powder or chocolate shavings on top of the whipped cream. Grab a spoon, dive in, and let the flavors dance on your palate. Enjoy this marvelous creation to the fullest!
- Use quality ingredients for the best flavor. Opt for organic almond milk or coconut milk, as well as high-quality cacao or unsweetened cocoa powder.
- If you don’t have bourbon on hand, you can substitute it with rum or a flavored liqueur like Kahlua or Baileys for an extra kick.
- For a sweeter hot chocolate, add more powdered sugar to the whipped cream or sprinkle some on top of the drink.
- You can store the leftover whipped cream in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Just give it a quick whisk before using it again.
- To make this recipe vegan, use maple syrup or another liquid sweetener instead of powdered sugar in the whipped cream.
