Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Stirring spoon or whisk

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Skim Milk
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Golden Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • 1/4 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Cup Quaker® Oats-Old Fashioned
  • 1/16 Teaspoon salt

Instructions

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

  • Begin by assembling all the ingredients required for your pumpkin Quaker oatmeal recipe. You’ll need Quaker Old-Fashioned Oats, skim milk, pumpkin pie spice, canned pumpkin puree, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.

Step 2: Heat the Milk Mixture

  • Pour 1 cup of skim milk into a small saucepan. Add a dash of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, 1/2 tablespoon of brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the milk. Stir the mixture well to combine all the ingredients.

Step 3: Bring to a Boil

  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the milk mixture to a gentle boil. Stir occasionally to ensure that the spices and sugar are evenly distributed throughout the milk.

Step 4: Add the Quaker Oats

  • Once the milk mixture reaches a boil, add 1/2 cup of Quaker Old-Fashioned Oats to the saucepan. Stir the oats into the milk mixture, ensuring that they are fully submerged.

Step 5: Cook the Oatmeal

  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and allow the oatmeal to simmer for about 5 minutes. Stir the oatmeal occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the saucepan.

Step 6: Incorporate the Pumpkin Puree

  • After the oatmeal has cooked for 5 minutes, add 1/4 cup of canned pumpkin puree to the saucepan. Stir the pumpkin puree into the oatmeal until it is well incorporated.

Step 7: Final Touches

  • Continue to cook the oatmeal for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until it reaches your desired consistency. Taste the oatmeal and adjust the sweetness or spice levels if necessary.

Step 8: Serve and Enjoy

  • Once the oatmeal is ready, remove the saucepan from the heat. Transfer the pumpkin Quaker oatmeal to serving bowls. You can garnish it with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice or a drizzle of maple syrup if desired. Serve the warm oatmeal immediately and enjoy its cozy flavors!

Notes

  • Use old-fashioned oats for the best texture and flavor.
  • Adjust the sweetness according to your preference by adding more or less brown sugar.
  • Experiment with different spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or clove for a unique flavor profile.
  • For a creamier consistency, you can use almond milk or coconut milk instead of skim milk.
  • To enhance the nutritional value, top your oatmeal with fresh fruits, nuts, or seeds for added crunch and flavor.
