Today, I’m excited to dive into one of my all-time favorite recipes – kale tonic fresh juice. Before you scrunch your face at the thought of kale in your drink, remember what my mom used to say: “Never judge a juice by its green color!” This concoction isn’t just a green splash in a glass; it’s a refreshing, nutrient-packed powerhouse.

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups of filtered water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger – peeled and grated
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 4 hearty kale leaves – stems trimmed away
  • 2 Fuji apples – cored seeds removed, and coarsely chopped
  • 1 English cucumber – coarsely chopped
  • Juice of 1 lemon or more, based on preference

Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

  • Start by thoroughly washing all your produce. Organic is best because you don’t want any pesky pesticides in your juice. Trim the kale leaves and chop the apples, cucumber, and ginger.

Step 2: Blend the Ingredients

  • Add the filtered water, chopped kale leaves, apples, cucumber, ginger, and lemon juice into your blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth.

Step 3: Strain the Juice

  • If you prefer a smoother texture, strain the mixture using a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth. This step filters out the pulp, leaving you with a silky and refreshing drink.

Step 4: Sweeten It

  • Add a tablespoon of honey to the strained juice. Stir well until the honey is fully dissolved.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

  • Pour the juice into a glass, add some ice if you like it cold, and enjoy your nutrient-packed drink!

Notes

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh veggies and fruits taste better and are more nutritious.
  • Adjust Sweetness: Feel free to add more honey if you have a sweet tooth, or use another natural sweetener like agave syrup.
  • Chill Your Ingredients: For an extra refreshing drink, chill your ingredients in the fridge before making the juice.
  • Drink Immediately: To reap the full benefits, drink your juice right away. Nutrients can degrade with time.
  • Experiment: Try adding other superfoods like spinach or a splash of coconut water for an extra boost.
