Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Ensure that the oven rack is positioned in the lower third of the oven.
Take your Costco chicken pot pie out of its packaging, leaving it in its metal pie tin. If desired, lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray.
Step 2: Bake the Pot Pie
Place the pot pie, still in its tin, onto the prepared baking sheet.
Slide the baking sheet into the preheated oven and allow the pot pie to bake for approximately 1¼ to 1½ hours. Check for doneness by using a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Step 3: Allow to Cool
Once fully cooked, carefully remove the pot pie from the oven.
Let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This will allow the filling to set slightly and prevent any burns from hot steam.
For Frozen Pot Pie (Marie Callender):
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Remove the outer wrapper from the frozen pot pie, but keep it in its paper tray.
To prevent the crust from burning, cover the edges with aluminum foil.
Place the pot pie on a baking sheet and bake it in the preheated oven for approximately 50 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) as measured with a meat thermometer.
Step 4: Reheating (Optional)
If you have leftover pot pie or if you’re reheating a slice, there are a couple of options:
For an air fryer, reheat a slice at 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes until warmed through.
Alternatively, place the pot pie slice on a microwave-safe plate, cover it with a paper towel, and microwave on high for about 1½ minutes.
- To add an extra layer of flavor, consider brushing the crust with melted butter before baking.
- For a touch of sweetness, sprinkle a pinch of sugar on top of the crust before baking.
- To ensure a crispy bottom crust, place the pot pie on a baking sheet instead of directly on the oven rack.
- For a healthier twist, swap out the traditional crust for a puff pastry or phyllo dough.
- To enhance the aroma of the pot pie, add a sprinkle of dried herbs such as thyme or rosemary to the filling before baking.
