Equipment

  • Air fryer

Ingredients

  • - 1 ripe banana
  • - 1 tsp agave syrup or honey
  • - Pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor
  • - 50g Greek yogurt
  • - 2 teaspoons crunchy almond butter alternatively, you can use peanut butter
  • - 1 tsp melted dark chocolate
  • - A sprinkle of chopped nuts for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Banana

  • Start by slicing the banana in half lengthwise, ensuring that you keep the skin on. This helps the banana hold its shape while cooking and allows those natural sugars to caramelize beautifully. Plus, the skin prevents the banana from overcooking.

Step 2: Add Flavor Enhancements

  • Drizzle the agave syrup over the open sides of the banana. This will give it that sweet touch. Next, take a pinch of nutmeg and sprinkle it over the banana halves. This extra spice will complement the sweetness and elevate the dish's flavor.

Step 3: Get Air Frying!

  • Carefully place the banana halves in the air fryer basket. Set your air fryer to 180°C (or about 350°F) and cook for 8 minutes. Keep in mind that the bananas will become soft and fragrant.

Step 4: Handle with Care

  • After the timer goes off, use tongs to remove the banana halves from the air fryer. Be cautious, as they will be hot and soft. The banana should be golden-brown and beautifully caramelized!

Step 5: The Finishing Touches

  • Plate the warm bananas and generously spoon the Greek yogurt on the side. Drizzle the crunchy almond butter and melted dark chocolate over the top. Finally, finish with a sprinkle of chopped nuts for that additional crunch and texture.

Notes

- Use Ripe Bananas: The riper the banana, the sweeter the flavor. Look for bananas with a few brown spots.
- Customize the Toppings: Feel free to switch up the toppings! Add granola or shredded coconut for extra texture.
- Air Fryer Model Matters: Cooking times can vary based on the air fryer model. Start with 8 minutes and adjust as necessary.
- Experiment with Additions: Consider adding other toppings like a dollop of Greek yogurt or a dash of vanilla extract for extra richness.
- Serving Temperature: Enjoy immediately for the best taste and texture. The bananas are best warm!
