Equipment

  • Medium saucepan

Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme rubbed to a fine powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic granules
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated Parmesan cheese optional

Instructions

Step 1: Melt the Butter

  • In a medium saucepan, gently melt 1/4 lb of butter over low heat. Ensure it doesn’t burn. Stir occasionally to help it melt evenly.

Step 2: Add Dijon Mustard and Worcestershire Sauce

  • Once melted, add 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard and 1 1/2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce to the butter. Stir until well combined.

Step 3: Season with Spices

  • Now, it’s time to add the seasonings. Stir in 1 teaspoon of sea salt, 1/2 teaspoon of freshly cracked black pepper, 1 teaspoon of dried parsley leaves, 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary, 1/4 teaspoon of dried thyme, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic granules, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cumin, 1/8 teaspoon of ground cayenne, 1/8 teaspoon of ground white pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of smoked paprika.

Step 4: Simmer and Stir

  • Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes over low heat. Stir occasionally to prevent the bottom from burning.

Step 5: Optional Parmesan

  • If you like, add 1 teaspoon of finely grated Parmesan cheese. This adds an extra layer of richness and enhances the flavor profile.

Notes

  • Butter quality: Use high-quality butter to make your sauce richer.
  • Simmer gently: Avoid boiling the sauce; a low simmer gives the best results.
  • Adjust seasoning: Taste as you go and adjust the seasoning to your preference.
  • Storage: This sauce stores well in the fridge. Just warm it up gently before serving.
  • Parmesan: The cheese is optional but highly recommended.
